Scripture:
“Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.” ~Revelation 2:5

Observation:
Jesus is speaking to the Ephesian church and is telling them that if they do not repent, He is going to take from them the light they have to draw others. In effect, they will lose the power of their witness.

Application:
What things are hindering my witness that I need to repent of?

Prayer:
Father, I turn away again from those things that are in my that are not of You. Brighten my light to the world so that others might see it and turn to You. Help me to avoid temptation and deliver me from evil.

Daily Bible Podcast Day 242 – Ezekiel 8-11, Revelation 4

Scripture:
“‘You are worthy, our Lord and God,
to receive glory and honor and power,
for you created all things,
and by your will they were created
and have their being.'” ~Revelation 4:11

Observation:
The elders in heaven lay their crowns down in front of the throne. Those worthy of respect consider themselves nothing before the throne. They attribute all worth to the creator of the universe. The universe (“all things”) is incredible. It’s amazingly huge with incredibly large “structures” in it. The building blocks are unbelievably small and the math of everything, from the small to the large, is inconceivably fine-tuned. With all that, it is still run based on love and justice.

Application:
If the elders, those people most deserving of respect ascribe to God all honor and glory and power, certainly I, who am much less than they are should do so as well.

Prayer:
Father, Your full creating is amazing beyond any conception I could ever form of it. The scale, the beauty, the mathematics of it all is far past anyone’s full comprehension. Your power is enormous and still Your plan was to be in fellowship and family with us. I have to admit that I don’t understand what a Being capable of such capability could possibly want with me, but You were willing to go to incredible lengths to bring us back together. All the power and glory and honor are Yours, Creator.
