Day 16
Scripture:
“Joseph’s master took him and put him in prison, the place where the king’s prisoners were confined.

But while Joseph was there in the prison, the Lord was with him; he showed him kindness and granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden. So the warden put Joseph in charge of all those held in the prison, and he was made responsible for all that was done there. The warden paid no attention to anything under Joseph’s care, because the Lord was with Joseph and gave him success in whatever he did.” ~Genesis 39:20-23

Observation:
Joseph was falsely accused and put into prison. He was there for several years. Despite this, God was using this situation to eventually put Joseph into a powerful position. Even though he wasn’t free, God still made him prosperous. God is using a bad situation to Joseph’s benefit.

Application:
I’ll likely never rule a country the way Joseph did, but God can still use my trials for my good. This is hard to keep in mind. When my wife got cancer, it was hard to see how any good could come from that. 6 months later and we’re starting to see some ways it has made us better people and exposed our strengths and weaknesses as well as drawing us closer together. I just hope I can be as faithful in my trials as Joseph was.

Prayer:
God, I don’t always get it. Ok, I seldom get it. I guess I just have to trust that somehow you will use my trials to make me better. I can’t promise to always like it, but I will try to be faithful whatever is going on. Help me to do that.
