Scripture:
“And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.” ~Revelation 20:10

Observation:
We win. Satan will someday be captured and unable to deceive any longer.

Application:
This is a reminder of whose side I need to be sure that I am fighting for. I belong to God, but am I working as one who wants to win His reward?

Prayer:
Father, thank You that I am among those who believe in the name, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. I look forward to Your ultimate victory, even as I wonder at Your timing. I know that Your ways are perfect, so I do my best to be patient. Help me to make good use of my time until either the end comes or my end comes.

Daily Bible Podcast Day 260 – Ezekiel 42-44, Revelation 22

Scripture:
“Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.” ~Revelation 22:12-13

Observation:
This makes me wonder what God’s definition of “soon” is. It’s been almost 2,000 years since John wrote down these visions and the events described have not literally come to pass yet. I believe them to be an accurate description of what will happen, but when is not known to us. Also, Christ’s reward for our deeds does not imply salvation by works, merely that there is a reward for good works.

Application:
I am impatient and I want to know the mysteries of God and when all these things will happen. God, though, isn’t on my timeframe and has His own purposes that will be fulfilled before all this happens. My job is to trust Him and do my best to follow His commands, so that I might earn the reward He has for me.

Prayer:
Father, I’m not always good at being patient and I don’t like not knowing things. Help me to learn the lessons that You would have me learn and to not worry about when these things will happen. Let me be worried about earning my reward, not about when the “end” will come. You had the wisdom and power to start everything and You have the wisdom to bring it to an end in Your timing. Help me to be obedient with whatever time I have left.
