Daily Bible Podcast Day 277 – Esther 1-2, Psalm 150, Luke 17

“‘So watch yourselves.

‘If your brother or sister sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them. Even if they sin against you seven times in a day and seven times come back to you saying “I repent,” you must forgive them.’” ~Luke 17:3-4

“Brother or sister” means another of Jesus’ disciples here. Jesus is teling us to confront other believers when they wrong us and forgive them as often as they repent. Jesus is giving a glimpse at the nature of God. We sin against Him, yet he forgives as we repent.

If I am confronted as having done wrong to a brother or sister, I should repent. Also, if done wrong, I should confront. This is hard, though. I’m more likely to just shrug off the problem and not worry about it.

Father, help me to know which is the right thing at any given time, to confront the one who has sinned against me or to simply ignore it and move on. If confrontation over sin is something You desire to bring repentance, give me the courage to do so. Also, help me not to sin against other of Your disciples, that I won’t put them in the difficult position of having to confront me. If I am confronted, may I repent.
