Daily Bible Podcast Day 275 – Zechariah 13-14, Psalm 147, Luke 15

“‘I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.'” ~Luke 15:7

Jesus tells the crowd about a man who loses one of his hundred sheep and who, upon finding it, rejoices. This almost seems wrong, to slight the righteous for the sake of the repentant. However, the truly righteous know it isn’t about them anyway and would be celebrating as well.

What is my own attitude toward sinners (of which I am one)? Do I spend more energy on those who have repented, or on those who need to repent?

Father, help me to not lose focus on the lost “sheep”. I was something of a prodigal son myself. Jesus, You say that heaven rejoices over the repentant. Help me to encourage others to repentance and the church to focus on leading others to repentance. I want to focus on what causes the biggest party in heaven. Help me to do so.
