Daily Bible Podcast Day 271 – Zechariah 1-3, Luke 11
“‘So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
‘Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!'” ~Luke 11:9-13
Jesus tells us that we simply need ask for God’s gifts and they will be given, in the same way that earthly fathers give their own children good gifts. The previous verses allude to the idea that we should be asking audaciously, like one who asks to borrow something from a neighbor in the middle of the night.
Do I ask for God’s Spirit, blessing, and hand in my life? Am I persistent and audacious in my asking?
Father, many times this year I have asked for Your Spirit in my life. I’ve asked for healing, I’ve asked for guidance, I’ve asked for help. I will keep asking and trusting that You will do as You will in Your own time. So be it.
