Scripture:
“The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world. And he said to him, ‘I will give you all their authority and splendor; it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to. If you worship me, it will all be yours.’

Jesus answered, ‘It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.’'”

Observation:
In order for this to be a temptation for Jesus, Satan has to be telling the truth. Otherwise, were he lying, Jesus would know that and just not be tempted. This means that Satan had been given authority over the kingdoms of the world.

Application:
Does Satan still have power over the “kingdoms” of the earth? I suspect that he does given the evil that is done by these “kingdoms”. None of these kingdoms are worth my worship and, in fact, Jesus reminds us to “worship the Lord your God and serve Him only.

Prayer:
Father, You are the only one worth serving and worshiping. No nation on earth is worthy of my praise or loyalty compared to You. Guide me to treat all Your children the same, no matter what “kingdom” they come under the dominion of. Help me to not put any earthly thing before my worship of and obedience to You.
