Scripture:
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.” ~John 3:16-18

Observation:
John 3:16 is likely the most famous verse in the Bible. Verse 17 is less famous, but amplifies verse 16 in an important way. 18 is verse 16 restated with the consequence for not believing added.

Application:
If God’s purpose in sending Jesus was not to condemn, then my instinct should not be to condemn either. My “job” as a Christian is about salvation, not condemnation, and yet I forget this too often in my attitudes toward others.

Prayer:
Father, thank You that You did love me enough to send Your son. I do believe in Him and His death and resurrection. I want the have the attitude of Christ and, when confronted with a lost person, think first of salvation and not condemnation. This is very hard with certain types of people, but I know that You desire ALL people to come to faith in Christ. Help me to play my part in Your plan to save as many as possible.
