Scripture:
“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.” ~1 Peter 2:9-10

Observation:
The prior verses talk about how some actually stumble because of Jesus. He causes these unbelievers to fall because of their disobedience.

Application:
Obviously on Sunday mornings I am usually quite busy singing the praises of Him who called me out of darkness, but what about the rest of the week? Do I declare my rescue from sin and membership in God’s family?

Prayer:
Father, I thank You that I am not one of those for whom unbelief in Jesus is a cause for stumbling and that You have called me out of darkness. Continue to root out the residual darkness in my life and help me to shout Your praises to a world that needs You. I want to see your family grow; show me what I should do.
