Scripture:
“Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming.” ~1 Peter 1:13

Observation:
There are many things we could (wrongly) set our hope on, but Peter tells us to hope in the grace we’ll receive when Christ comes.

Application:
I don’t usually hope first in the grace of Christ. I tend to place my hope in worldly things, like possessions or money or accomplishments. Next to the grace of Christ, these are not important. As a result of this misplaced hope, I often forget that there is any real hope at all.

Prayer:
Father, help me to not have false hope in perishable things. Help me to always hope only in the grace of Christ, which is the only hope anyone has of avoiding an eternity apart from You. Keep this grace foremost in my mind, so that I do not lose heart at the inability of my worldly hopes to deliver.
