Daily Bible Podcast Day 197 – Isaiah 25-28, Hebrews 13

May 16, 2013 in Podcasts by Nathan

“Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.” ~Hebrews 13:20-21

The writer of Hebrews makes a request on behalf of his readers that God give them what they need to do what He wants. The focus is on the reader having what is needed to do God’s will, not their own.

Too often I ask for things that will allow me to fulfill my own purposes, but here Hebrews reminds us that we are to ask for what will help us do what God wants. It’s not a complicated idea, that God’s desires should come first, yet I seem to have trouble keeping that priority right.

God, talking with You each day has meant that I am asking for a lot. I hope mostly healing and strength to do Your will, but I know that I often have selfish motives as well. If not in my prayers, certainly in my life. My family does have needs, and You know what they are. Please give me what I need to do Your will and I’ll do my best to trust You to provide for us.
