Scripture:
“See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. 13 But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. 14 We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the very end.” ~Hebrews 3:12-14

Observation:
The writer of Hebrews references the times in the Old Testament where the Israelites hardened their hearts and were unbelieving. That is why the Israelites under Moses were not allowed to enter the promised land; their unbelief.

Application:
At what point do having unresolved sin in your life and having a sinful, unbelieving heart become the same? I wish I knew. I still have issues that I am working through, but I’d like to think that I believe. Maybe if I really believed, I wouldn’t have these lingering problems?

Prayer:
Father, I do not want to have a sinful and unbelieving heart. I don’t really seem able to control my own sin, though, so I need You to take care of that. Sometimes it’s hard to believe when so much in my life is not what I think You’d want it to be. Change me into what You want me to be. I’m having trouble on my own.
