Daily Bible Podcast Day 182 – Isaiah 1-3, Titus 3

“But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the law, because these are unprofitable and useless. Warn a divisive person once, and then warn them a second time. After that, have nothing to do with them. You may be sure that such people are warped and sinful; they are self-condemned.” ~Titus 3:9-11

Paul warns us not to engage in pointless debates or arguments and to have nothing to do with people who stir up division.

I like to debate and I like to discuss politics and theology and strategy. How do I know if the discussions I am having are foolish or not? The way that we understand theology is important and must be discussed, as is the way we relate to others. I suspect that debate becomes foolish when if has the potential to damage relationships or turn others away from the faith.

Father, help me to keep my debates and discussions to only those that are useful for building up. If a conversation is foolish, help to avoid it so that I don’t turn anyone away. Help me also to correct and then avoid divisive people and help me to never be one myself.
