Scripture:
“Now the overseer is to be above reproach, faithful to his wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him, and he must do so in a manner worthy of full respect.” ~1 Timothy 3:2-4

Observation:
Paul gives the qualifications for leaders in the church. They are often called elders in our churches, but these attributes likely should apply to anyone in a position of significant leadership in the church.

Application:
I’d love to be able to say that I possess the qualities on this list. I do have some of them, but probably not as many as I should if I desire to lead at a higher level than I do now.

Prayer:
Father, I feel like so many of my prayers are the same. I desire to have some quality so that I can serve You better, so I ask that You work in me to produce that quality. Today is no different, but I feel like a broken record. It’s hard to see if change is happening in my life. Please conform me to the image of Jesus.
