Scripture:
“For it is we who are the circumcision, we who serve God by his Spirit, who boast in Christ Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh— though I myself have reasons for such confidence.

If someone else thinks they have reasons to put confidence in the flesh, I have more: circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; in regard to the law, a Pharisee; as for zeal, persecuting the church; as for righteousness based on the law, faultless.” ~Philippians 3:3-6

Observation:
Paul is arguing that no one has more “following the law” credentials than does he. Yet, he puts no confidence in his lineage, his education, his record, or his obedience to the law. He considers it all worthless.

Application:
Nothing that I do or know or am has any bearing on my salvation and none of these things can compare to knowing Christ and having faith in him. My pastor father, my book learning, and my good acts are simply not important in comparison.

Prayer:
Father, if I’m going to worry about what I know, let me know Christ better. If I am going to worry about what I do, let me act as Christ in the world. If I am to worry about who I am, let me only be a child of Yours through Christ. Increase my faith, since that is the only source of righteousness.
