Day 157
Scripture:
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” ~Ephesians 2:8-10

Observation:
I did not, nor could I, do anything to earn salvation. Not only can I not brag (a form of pride) about my status, I can’t look down (another form of pride) on those who I see as “worse” than me. Grace is the thing and it is available to all. We are to do good for others as a way of loving them and showing them God’s grace and mercy.

Application:
I need to remember that God had mercy on me when I was going against Him. Others who are living counter to His plan can have the same grace shown to them. I am created to do good works for those inside and outside the church.

Prayer:
Father, I often forget where I really was when you rescued me. Help me not to be prideful by looking down on those who have not yet experienced Your saving grace and mercy. Also, help me to discover all of the good work that You have for me and to carry it out.
