Daily Bible Podcast Day 145 – 1 Kings 10-11, 2 Chronicles 9, Romans 6

“In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness. For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.” ~Romans 6:11-14

Paul makes this statement because we have “died with Christ” and that our old sinful self was crucified along with Him.

Does letting sin reign mean you have a habitual sin? If I have sin that I occasionally lapse back into, is that considered “reigning?” I need to daily offer myself to God to combat the effects of sin that wants to creep back in.

Father, I want to daily offer myself as an instrument of Your will, not an instrument of wickedness. Keep me from both any periodic or habitual sin, so that I can be a servant of Yours, not a slave to sin. Thank You that my old self was crucified with Christ, so that I didn’t have to stay dead in my sin.
