Scripture:
“Sing the praises of the Lord, you his faithful people;
praise his holy name.
For his anger lasts only a moment,
but his favor lasts a lifetime;
weeping may stay for the night,
but rejoicing comes in the morning.” ~Psalm 30:4-5

Observation:
David experienced God’s rebuke. God’s punishments were severe on David and Israel in a few instances.

Application:
I am not likely to suffer consequences direct from God in the way that David did. Any punishment that I endure is likely the indirect result of my sin. Even so, if I turn from my sin as David did, God’s favor can rest on me for my lifetime.

Prayer:
Father, sometimes the “night” of my sorrow feels long. Please send the light of Your joy. Like David, I want to turn from my sin and experience Your favor. In either case, I’ll sing Your praises, knowing that even if I am sorrowful now, Your joy does not have to be far off.
