Scripture:
“Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’” ~Matthew 28:18-20

Observation:
These are the last instructions Jesus gives and the only instructions he gives the disciples following His resurrection.

Application:
It seems the first thing to know would be what Jesus’ commands were. The big one, love the Lord your God and your neighbor as yourself is the biggest. Jesus himself says so. As I’m reading the Bible I need to be more on the lookout for Jesus’ specific commands so that I can put them into practice. Only when I’m following Jesus can I really expect to help others become His disciples as well.

Prayer:
Father, making disciples is not really something I’ve done all that well. Please help me to learn and follow Jesus’ commands and to how to encourage others to become disciples as well. Help me to become both a disciple and a disciple-maker in whatever capacity You desire from me.
