Daily Bible Podcast Day 125 – 2 Samuel 10, 1 Chronicles 20, Psalm 20, Matthew 22

“‘The kingdom of heaven is like a king who prepared a wedding banquet for his son. He sent his servants to those who had been invited to the banquet to tell them to come, but they refused to come.’

‘So go to the street corners and invite to the banquet anyone you find.’ 10 So the servants went out into the streets and gathered all the people they could find, the bad as well as the good, and the wedding hall was filled with guests.'” ~Matthew 22:2-3,9

Jesus is using a parable to explain what the kingdom of heaven is like. He is saying that God has invited people, but that not only will many who are invited not come, they will actively abuse God’s messengers. Those who end up in the kingdom of heaven are simply those who accept the invitation.

I have accepted my place in the kingdom of heaven that was offered through Jesus’ sacrifice and resurrection. At, the same time, am I also not a messenger meant to tell others about their place at the banquet table? If so, I should also be prepared for the abuse that may fall on those who are messengers for God.

Father, I want to reaffirm my acceptance of Jesus’ sacrifice and resurrection and accept again my place at Your table. Please allow me to be a messenger for you. I gladly accept whatever abuse I will suffer at the hands of those who refuse to accept Your invitation.
