Daily Bible Podcast Day 116 – 2 Samuel 1, Psalm 140, Matthew 13

“Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.” ~Matthew 13:7-8

The choked out seed is the believer who gets preoccupied with the cares of this life. The seed that fall on good soil represents the believer who produces a crop.

I’m in both of these categories at different times. Too often I am preoccupied with the cares of this world. Other times I am focused. It’s also hard to know where I am because sometimes the fruit we produce isn’t obvious to us. Sometimes we plant seeds that others harvest.

Father, I don’t want your word to choked out by the weeds of my earthly concerns. Help me to be faithful in producing fruit and please reassure me that I am producing it. I also thank you for the roots that I have and that Satan has not prevented me from understanding.
