Scripture:
“‘You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.'” ~Matthew 5:14-16

Observation:
The light that we present to a dark world is our good deeds.

Application:
Am I shining a light, or do I spend more time talking about “church-y” things than actually doing good deeds? I fear it is the latter. Some of our light is the hope that we have, but the passage mentions good deeds specifically.

Prayer:
Father, I confess that I don’t always shine a light of good deeds. Too often I’m mostly words and not action. Spirit help me to abound in good deeds, so that others will see Your imprint on my life and praise You for it.
