Scripture:
“As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. ‘Come, follow me,’ Jesus said, ‘and I will send you out to fish for people.’ At once they left their nets and followed him.

Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them, and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.” ~Matthew 4:18-22

Observation:
Jesus called them and they went. Right away. I don’t know if they knew of Jesus prior to that. I don’t know if they’d heard him preach. For whatever reason, when Jesus called them, they went. Their decision to go completely altered the course of the rest of their lives.

Application:
I know who Jesus is and I have trouble dropping my “nets” to follow Him. I have this crazy idea that the path that I’ve come up with is somehow to be preferred over the path Jesus has for me.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, I want to drop my “nets” and follow. Sometimes its just hard. You have a better fishing trip in mind than I do. Your plan is better than any I’d work out myself. Help me have faith and follow You, even when I don’t see where the path is leading.
