Daily Bible Podcast Day 094 – Judges 19-21, 2 Corinthians 4

“We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.” ~2 Corinthians 4:8-9, 16-17

Paul and others are under persecution and in danger of losing their lives for the sake of the gospel. This is the context he is writing under. The evil one also persecutes us today, even if we are not in fear of government or religious leaders, as Paul and his friends were.

How much am I being persecuted? Is Satan actively working in opposition to me? If not, does this mean I am not doing enough for the sake of the gospel? My daily study is a renewal but apart from the normal pressures of life, how much do I have to be renewed from? Certainly nothing compared to what Paul and those of his day faced.

Father, does a relative lack of persecution indicate that I’m not doing enough for the gospel? Should I pray for more persecution? I want to be in Your will. Spirit, guide me to what You would have me do and renew me each day from whatever persecution, physical or spiritual, that I experience.
