Scripture:
“Then she said to him, “How can you say, ‘I love you,’ when you won’t confide in me? This is the third time you have made a fool of me and haven’t told me the secret of your great strength.” With such nagging she prodded him day after day until he was sick to death of it.” ~Judges 16:15-16

Observation:
So he told her everything (v. 17). She’d already betrayed him 3 times and still he told her. Either Samson was incredibly obtuse, or she really nagged him until he couldn’t stand it any more. He had bad experiences with women, that’s for sure.

Application:
I think that there may be temptations that nag at me until I give in. Maybe this is what’s going on with Samson. He isn’t strong enough to stand up to Delilah’s constant nagging. Like Samson I know, or should know, that the betrayal is coming.

Prayer:
Father, help me to stand strong in the face of nagging temptation. Even though he triumphs in the end, Samson’s reputation is tarnished and his effectiveness on Earth was lessened due to his failure. While I’ll never be as great as Samson, I don’t want my legacy marred by giving in to nagging temptation.
