Scripture:
“Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” ~ Galatians 6:7-9

Observation:
Paul is using really strong language here to let us know that working to please our sinful nature ultimately leads to destruction. “At the proper time,” which is probably longer than our impatience would like, we will see a good “harvest” if we persist in doing good.

Application:
Continuing to do good is hard. I am naturally impatient. I have trouble sitting still and I don’t want to wait for things. It’s too easy to slip back into a place where I am chasing after earthly desires. Paul warns us strongly to keep doing good, or else we risk destruction.

Prayer:
Holy Spirit, it is hard to persist in doing good. I often fall back to the priorities of this world. Help me to avoid destruction by sowing good seed and help me to be patient and not forget that I will reap a good harvest in Your timing, not mine.
