Scripture:
“‘If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them if a large millstone were hung around their neck and they were thrown into the sea.'” ~Mark 9:42

Observation:
Jesus has a strong warning for anyone who would cause others to stumble. He uses the words “little ones” also implying that causing children to stumble is particularly bad.

Application:
I have three of my own children, I have done youth ministry in the past, and I am a high school teacher by profession. I have and have had responsibility for “little ones”. It makes me nervous that I may have done or said things, even well-intentioned, that might cause my children or students to stumble. Any Christ-follower who would teach others carries a heavy responsibility.

Prayer:
Holy Spirit, guard my heart and protect my speech so that I won’t cause anyone who listens to me to stumble. I want what I say and do to help others to move closer to You, not be tripped up.
