Scripture:
“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?
Why are you so far from saving me,
so far from my cries of anguish?

All who see me mock me;
they hurl insults, shaking their heads.

Dogs surround me,
a pack of villains encircles me;
they pierce my hands and my feet.

They divide my clothes among them
and cast lots for my garment.” ~Psalm 22:1, 7, 16, 18

Observation:
This Psalm of anguish is actually a prophesy regarding how the Messiah will die. It was written hundreds of years prior to Jesus, yet it gives details of His death. On the cross, Jesus quotes verse 1. Every Jew in earshot would have known exactly what He was quoting.

Application:
God knows what He is doing. The circumstances of Jesus life and death were known to God well before they ever happened. I can trust the accuracy and source of the Bible because of fulfilled predictions like this one and many others too specific to be coincidence. I can also trust that God’s purposes will be taken care of.

Prayer:
God, please don’t let me forget that You already have this planned out. I just need to trust that Your will is what will eventually be done and obey You.
