Daily Bible Podcast Day 032 – Exodus 30-32, Acts 8

“After they had further proclaimed the word of the Lord and testified about Jesus, Peter and John returned to Jerusalem, preaching the gospel in many Samaritan villages.” ~Acts 8:25

The Samaritans and Jews did not get along. Their respective religious leaders instructed them that it was wrong to have enything to do with the other. Some violence was apparently involved. That’s part of the impact of Jesus’ story about the Good Samaritan. The Jews he was talking to wouldn’t have believed there was any such thing as a “good” Samaritan. However, Jesus and his early followers cared nothing for ehtnic bigotry and treated Samaritans as brothers, even making special trips to minister to them.

Who are the groups of people that make me uncomfortable? Who would I rather not minister to? Who does society cast aside? These are very likely the people that Jesus and the early apostles would be seeking out for ministry.

Holy Spirit, convict me when I am tempted to ignore those you would have ministered to. Help me to seek them out instead of avoiding them. Make known to me places and ministries where I can serve those Jesus would have served.
