Scripture:
“Why, Lord, do you stand far off?
Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?

But you, God, see the trouble of the afflicted;
you consider their grief and take it in hand.
The victims commit themselves to you;
you are the helper of the fatherless.” ~Psalm 10:1, 14

Observation:
Even David, who we so often assume had a close relationship with God, feels alone in his troubles. But after noting that those who defy God seem to prosper, David reveals that God does see the the “trouble of the afflicted.”

Application:
I’ve had some times where I was facing something I had no power over and felt abdandoned by God. David tells me that is not the case. Deliverance may not be immediate, but God is the defender of the defenseless.

Prayer:
God, there are so many troubles I have no control over. Come to my rescue in Your time and to suit Your purposes. Help me to keep faith and not lose heart in the meantime.
