Scripture:
“Then Jesus said to his disciples: ‘Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?

And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them. But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.'” ~Luke 12: 22-23, 25-26, 29-31

Observation:
It’s really hard not to worry sometimes. Especially about things like money and health. Our family hasn’t exactly had a great year for either of those. I’m not exactly a worrier, but questions like how will we put food on the table or how will we afford our house have weighed on us. Health challenges do put material concerns on the back burner. That is one good thing to come out of an otherwise no fun situation. We care less about our stuff.

Application:
I’m going to memorize these verses. That way, when I start to worry about money or possessions, I can recall them and beat back the worry.

Prayer:
There seem to be so many things out of my control right now, God. Really, things are always out of my control, since I have no guarantee of my next heartbeat. Help me to be too focused on your Kingdom to worry about just increasing my possessions.
