Daily Bible Podcast Day 348 – Hebrews 12-13, Jude

October 14, 2013 in Podcasts by Nathan

“Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name. And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.” ~Hebrews 13:15-16

A sacrifice is a gift that costs us something significant. Paul is saying that we should praise God in a sacrificial way, likely because in his day, openly praising Jesus could bring real consequences. It is the same today, even though prison and torture for the Name of Jesus is less likely.

Am I willing for my praise of Jesus to cost me something, or do I shrink back in those cases?

Lord Jesus, forgive me those times where I was too timid to openly praise You; those times it might have cost me some small amount of opinion or prestige. Help me to do better and I will try to have more courage in acknowledging You before others. Help me to have a harvest as I do my best to be faithful.
