Scripture:
“The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. Some have departed from these and have turned to meaningless talk. They want to be teachers of the law, but they do not know what they are talking about or what they so confidently affirm.” ~1 Timothy 1:5-7

Observation:
Paul is telling Timothy to correct certain Ephesians. They have stopped acting in love toward others and have instead turned to pointless talk and speculation.

Application:
I like thinking about and discussing and debating things. Would Paul tell me to stop my meaningless talk? I suspect sometimes yes.

Prayer:
Father, help me to put love into action. I want my faith to have meaning and purpose. I don’t want to just be someone who thinks and talks about spiritual things. I want my faith to be real and useful, not just for me, but for others as well.
