Scripture:
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.” ~2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Observation:
Paul is saying that the reason God comforts us is so that we can comfort others. Here again is the idea that nothing we experience is really for us. It is so we can better minster to others.

Application:
When I am in need of comfort or am comforted, my first thought is not usually that it will strengthen me to give comfort to others.

Prayer:
Father, I have been comforted many times by Your Word and Your Spirit. Help me to pass that comforting along to those in my life who need it now that I don’t. In all things be glorified as You draw the hurting and the lost to You.
