Scripture:
“For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.” ~1 Corinthians 13:9-12

Observation:
Paul makes the point that we don’t have a full understanding now. We learn more and more, but only at the end will we see everything fully. This means that our understanding is always incomplete. Theological (or any other) perfection is denied to us.

Application:
I should pray for more understanding while remaining humble in my reasoning and teaching. No matter how right I might be, it is still possible to be wrong.

Prayer:
Father, thank You for the understanding and discernment You have already given me. I ask that You continue to strengthen me in this way. I want to be free from error in my teaching, but help me to be humble, since some error on my part is guaranteed. I look forward to the day when we will see everything fully; I have so many questions! Come, Lord Jesus.
