Scripture:
“By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care. 11 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work.” ~1 Corinthians 3:10-13

Observation:
Paul is speaking about beginning to “build” others into Christians. He laid the foundation, but God is the builder. All the same, he says we should be careful to lay a solid foundation on Christ alone.

Application:
How careful am I when talking to new believers or those who aren’t believers? Am I contributing to or detracting from them getting a firm foundation? Is my own foundation solid? I am responsible for my own spiritual basis.

Prayer:
Father, help me to not only make sure that my foundation is secure in Christ alone, but also that I might help others to lay such a foundation. May I never be tempted to try and use some other basis to lead others to Christ or start them out as new believers. I want to do good work, work that will stand the test.
