Daily Bible Podcast Day 306 – Job 23-24, Mark 11-12

“Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents.

Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, ‘Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.'” ~Mark 12:41-44

Jesus is saying that, even though the monetary value is small, the spiritual value is high, because she gave all she possibly could have. The value of the gift is a result of the depth of the sacrifice.

One of the things I have the most trouble with is giving. I’m just not good at it. Money is a little tight for us right now and I feel like every dollar is important. But, like most people, we have things we don’t need and expenses that aren’t completely necessary.

Father, I want to be a better giver, but I don’t seem to be making much progress on my own. Give me Your heart for giving and give me the assurance that I will, in fact, be blessed when I give. I know Your blessing might or might not be monetary, but I know that You promise to give when we do. Help me to be obedient and to trust You with my riches.
