Scripture:
“Then Agrippa said to Paul, ‘Do you think that in such a short time you can persuade me to be a Christian?’

Paul replied, ‘Short time or long—I pray to God that not only you but all who are listening to me today may become what I am, except for these chains.'” ~Luke 26:28-29

Observation:
Paul has been in prison for 2 years. When he gets a chance to argue his case before someone who can set him free, he not only defends himself, but also lays out the evidence for Jesus’ being the Messiah. He is actually trying to win converts in the midst of his trial. That we know so much about the conversation in the room suggests that he was successful. Again, Paul is an example of selfless devotion to Christ’s cause.

Application:
What is my first motivation? To save myself or bring honor to Jesus?

Prayer:
Father, Paul’s first thought never seems to be for himself. In all his trials, he always tries to do what will bring Jesus the most fame. Help me to have the same attitude as Paul. Help me to stop worrying about myself and do what it takes to bring honor to Jesus.
